About The Gradual Loop

Hey, I'm Preston. Welcome to The Gradual Loop – my corner of the internet where I share stories, reflections, and moments from life on the move.

Philosophy

The Gradual Loop is about staying in motion – through places, ideas, and stages of life – while taking the time to reflect along the way. I've come to see that progress isn't always a straight line; it's more of a quiet cycle of change and return.

Often, these loops lead to growth that isn't always clear in the moment, but becomes obvious in hindsight. This space is where I look back after, plan before, and write during these ongoing cycles of life. A place to slow down, connect the threads, and make sense of the movement.

What to expect

Here you'll find:

  • Reflections – thoughts on growth, simplicity, and motion
  • Snapshots in progress – smaller updates, ideas, and everyday stories
  • Travel journals – from longer adventures to quiet, in-between moments

Some posts may be long and reflective, others brief and spontaneous. Together, they map out the loops I'm moving through.

Who I am

I'm Preston – a software engineer, traveler, cyclist, and enthusiast of other very nerdy things (bibles, watches, maps, etc.). I've always been drawn to exploring new places and finding patterns in how life moves. After years of balancing work and adventure, The Gradual Loop became a place to slow down and make sense of it all.

Why I started this blog

I started The Gradual Loop to document life in motion – not just where I go, but how I grow through each phase. Writing here helps me see more clearly, and if it happens to resonate with someone else, even better.

Thanks for being here and taking the time to read. Whether you're traveling, pausing, or just figuring things out like me, I hope something here speaks to you.
